"LILLIAN" (PASTEL ON PAPER) 
This lady can certainly be added to the list of great performers. Lillian Boutte has been a  significant feature of the Bartercard Jazz Festival in South Australia and seeing her perform a bluesy "Basin Street Blues" and moving rendition of "Amazing Grace" at the launch of the event was just magic. The choice of blue pastel and minimal detail set the tone of the picture, as I scrapped and rubbed away at the page trying to capture Lillian very much "in the moment".
