A homage of sorts to Jean Michel Basquiat who's work has influenced me in so many ways and yet probably not immediately evident. There is a fair degree of risk taking in his painting which I really admire and a wonderful ignorance of the age old expectations of what art is and what it should look like.

This is a 3 x 2 foot oil on canvas which currently hangs in my studio next to a similar portrait I did of Brett Whiteley.
